Committees

St Mary’s is committed to the role of the laity as articulated by the Second Vatican Council. In the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, the Council taught that pastoral leaders “should recognize and promote the dignity and responsibility of the laity in the Church. They should willingly use their prudent advice and confidently assign duties to them in the service of the Church, leaving freedom and scope for action. Indeed, they should give them the courage to undertake works on their own initiative.”

Since 1980 the pastoral leaders of St. Mary’s have taken this commitment seriously and have worked diligently to enhance the opportunities for lay members to assume their rightful and necessary role in both the leadership and ministry activities of the parish.

Lay members partner with the pastoral leader and pastoral staff to provide their insight and skills to the leadership of the parish. The links to the left describe the major committees of the parish and the ways in which they contribute to the building up of the Body of Christ here at St. Mary’s.
